Mindset matters

What is a Growth Mindset

Mindset includes everything about how you perceive yourself and your life; it has a huge influence on the circumstances you experience and the outcome of those situations. An individual can become more resilient to life’s challenges by understanding, adapting, and shifting personal mindset.

There are two kinds of mindsets: fixed and growth.  These mindsets impact your belief system concerning your ability to change, grow and develop over time. If your personal mindset is unchangeable or “fixed”, you may be less open to opportunities to grow or challenge yourself because of fear of failure.

On the other hand, if your personal mindset is “growth”, you know that change comes over time and challenges can be opportunities to better oneself.  This allows you to become willing to embrace challenges more easily, allowing for reflection, learning, and growth.

You do not have to settle for “average” or limit your ability to reach big goals.  Keeping a growth mindset can turn goals into reality.

  • Stop eating so much sugar.
  • Run a 5K without stopping.
  • Wake up early to practice Yoga/mediation.
  • Take the lead on a project or event that you are passionate about at work or in the community.

Whatever your goal, big or small, practice growth mindset and you’ll notice that situations and outcomes around you improve! Why? Your potential for success begins in your mind. Only you have the power to welcome opportunities into your life; embrace the challenge and grow from your mistakes!
