Health Savings Accounts

If you enroll in one of the Bass Pro Shops High-Deductible Health Plans (Core or Value), you may elect a health savings account (HSA) that you can use to cover out-of-pocket health care expenses, including your deductible. Your HSA is administered by Anthem.

It is your personal account and your balance will roll over each year you participate. Bass Pro Shops will match your contributions dollar for dollar (100 percent) up to $500 for individual coverage or $1,000 for family coverage annually into your elected HSA. That’s free money to you!

Including the contributions from Bass Pro Shops, you can contribute up to the annual IRS limits of $4,400 for individual and $8,750 for family in 2026. Individuals aged 55 and older can make an additional “catch-up” contribution up to $1,000 annually.

Am I eligible for an HSA?

To open a HSA, you must:

  • Be a full-time Outfitter
  • Be enrolled in the Bass Pro Shops Core or Value High Deductible Health Plans
  • Not be covered under any other health plan that is not an HDHP
  • Not be contributing to a Health Care Flexible Spending Account
  • Not be covered by Medicare, TRICARE or VA benefits
  • Not be claimed as a dependent on another person’s tax return

How an HSA works

Five things you need to know about HSAs:

It’s owned by you. An HSA is a personal bank account – it’s yours to keep even if you leave the company or retire.

There’s no “use it or lose it” rule. Your balance rolls over and accumulates, year after year.

You can invest it. Once your balance reaches $1,000, you can invest your HSA, much like your 401(k).

You get a triple tax advantage. Contributions are pre-tax, your account grows tax-free and you’re not taxed on the money you use to pay for qualified medical expenses.

It’s easy to use. Pay qualified expenses with a swipe of your Anthem debit card. Or save your money and medical receipts and withdraw it in the future.

It’s not just for doctor visits

Once you’ve contributed to your account, you can use the funds in your HSA to pay for qualified medical expenses such as:

Dental care, including extractions and braces

Vision care, including contact lenses, prescription sunglasses and LASIK surgery

Prescription medications

Certain over-the-counter drugs and medications

Chiropractic services

Acupuncture
